We are delighted to present the late works of Italo Valenti. The exhibition will take place at galerie lange + pult in Zurich from March 8th to April 13th, 2024. As the title suggests, oil paintings, collages, and drawings created between 1954 and 1984 will be exhibited. When comparing the early works of the artist, filled with children’s kites, locomotives, paper ships, and peculiar, cylinder-hatted figures, with his later works, one might infer that he transitioned from a figurative to an abstract style over time. The once representational images, drawn from reality, gradually transformed into abstract signs and symbols. Valenti developed a new formal language and visual aesthetic characterized by simplification and abstraction.
